Look at the way the whole team is playing, some GMs might be skeptical that his stats are not a bit inflated by that.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2748120234252907284.post-16287217002084503472011-01-04T12:42:09.289-08:002011-01-04T12:42:09.289-08:00I agree with this. Best case scenario, Schneider remains the backup all season, get insane deep playoff experience, and his trade value goes even higher.Harrison Mooneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03261557020279875141noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2748120234252907284.post-18931289722622215282011-01-04T12:16:46.406-08:002011-01-04T12:16:46.406-08:00@ Anonymous 10:41

If, Heaven forfend, Luongo were to be injured in a race to the playoffs or later, Schneider's stellar play this year would let him step in as the great man's replacement with the confidence of the fans, his coaches and, most importantly, his team-mates, solidly behind him. And how much would a long run in the playoffs or (I even hesitate to think it out loud) a Stanley Cup on his resume increase his trade value then? Schneider is a winner for the Canucks in more ways than one.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2748120234252907284.post-63959390171186868732011-01-04T11:53:11.375-08:002011-01-04T11:53:11.375-08:00Well written post, I'll be sad to see him go. ...Well written post, I'll be sad to see him go. I don't know if he's "proven" he's starting material yet -- I'm sure he'd be capable, but teams usually want to wait a little bit longer before annointing a new guy as a starter.J21http://offthepost.orgnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2748120234252907284.post-66107736745617912842011-01-04T10:41:30.454-08:002011-01-04T10:41:30.454-08:00I was thinking during last nights game that he'...I was thinking during last nights game that he's going to be a hot commodity this trade deadline. nice post could use some more wellwood..JK but really I do miss wellwoodAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2748120234252907284.post-62343010151757806762011-01-04T10:37:49.831-08:002011-01-04T10:37:49.831-08:00Couldn't agree more. However, it's clear that he's ready to be a starter in the NHL sooner rather than later, and you can't blame the guy for wanting more responsibility. He's doing us all a favour by playing well - not only short term with wins, but long term, as we're going to get a heftier prize for him than we would have ever before.

Couple that with the fact that Eddie Lack is lighting it up in the AHL, and it looks like we'll have no problem getting another more-than-serviceable backup when, not if, Schneider gets dealt.James Whttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18249474877346718007noreply@blogger.com
